In April 2004, Citrix announced Java Client 8.0, which greatly enhances Citrix's web-based remote access capabilities. This is a positive development for SSL VPNs. Citrix Java Client 8.0 embeds the features once reserved for the full Citrix Win32 client into a single downloadable Java applet. By leveraging SSL VPN technology, Citrix users can now gain secure, clientless access to all Citrix features - without the overhead and complexity of Secure Gateway for MetaFrame.
